Citing sources of quotes that are put into articles is an important part of Wikiquote. This means that you should tell where the information (facts) come from. This helps to make sure the facts are right and can be verified (checked) by the readers.
If someone cannot verify information that is in an article, they might remove the information. If you see information that needs a citation, tag the information with {{Fact|{{subst:DATE}}}}.
The sources used should be able to be trusted. The information should be published by an organisation with a good reputation for checking facts, making sure the information is correct or true.
On the article page, you should list where the facts come from in a section called "References".
If you use in line citations (this is preferred), then you need to set up the article references section with:

or
==References== <references/>
In line citations use tags in the form of <ref> reference information here </ref> .
Using templates to format citations makes sure that the information in the citation is complete and useful to the reader. For example {{Cite web}} is a commonly used citation template. The mostly commonly used parameters to use an inline citation with the {{Cite web}} template (using the current date) are:
