Flaccus Albinus Alcuinus or Ealhwine (c.735–May 19, 804) was a scholar and teacher from York, England. He was born around 735 close to York — perhaps in the city itself. He was a noble, related to Saint Willibrord whose father founded the monastery of St. Andrew which Alcuin would later inherit.
