About this template
This template is for quickly adding multiple links to other Wikimedia sites (like Wikibooks or Wikinews) for an article.
Here are the most common fields:
{{other wikis |wikipedia = |wikipedia-en = |commons = |commonscat = |source = |source-other = |newscat = |news = |books = |books-en = |school = }}
Here are all of the fields available:
{{other wikis |meta = |wikipedia = |wikipedia-en = |commons = |commonscat = |source = |source-other = |newscat = |news = |wiktionary = |wiktionary-en = |species = |books = |books-en = |school = }}
Using this template
- You should always place this template at the top of a "Other websites" section. For an example, see Barack Obama#Other websites.
- When possible, use the Simple English page. If there isn't a Simple English page, please use the regular English page (anything with a "-en" at the end is for regular English). Please don't use both the Simple English and regular English links.
- "commons" will take you to a regular Commons page; "commonscat" will take you to a Commons category. Of the two, "commons" is better; a category is unorganized, while a full Commons page will have descriptions for each image.
- "source" will take you to an Author page on Wikisource; use "source-other" to link to a regular article there.
- "news" will perform a search on the English Wikinews; "newscat" can be used for very important figures that have entire categories on Wikinews.
