I am requesting admin status at Meta because there are many things that must be done here that only an administrator can do. If you support this, please say so here. --Cromwellt|talk 04:09, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

[change] Archer7

Archer7 has requested sysop rights on Meta. --Cromwellt|talk 21:48, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

  • Support. He has not made any edits besides his userpage yet, but he has shown himself to be a responsible editor and admin at SEWikipedia, and we need all the help we can get. --Cromwellt|talk 21:48, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[change] User:RedSoxMan

I want to become a administrator so I can gain respect here.--RedSoxMan 02:51, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

This is an obvious sockpuppet of Sir James Paul, in an attempt to change my vote. NO. If you attempt to use sockpuppets again, you will be blocked from the Simple English Wikiquote. Archer7 10:50, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

OpposeThis person just got here and I have never seen him on any other wiki projects. --Sir James Paul 02:53, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

  • also becoming a administrator does not give you respect, that is another reason why he should not be made a sysop.--Sir James Paul 02:55, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

[change] User:Sir James Paul

I want to have expirience in a small project as an sysop before becoming one on wikipedia simple english. I also want to help this project grow in the number of articles.--Sir James Paul 18:47, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Support--Sir James Paul 20:02, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
    • Dear Sir, you cannot support a self-nomination.--Tdxiang 07:36, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
  • COMMENT I am devoted to the project and will continue to be as a sysop. --Sir James Paul 21:42, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Strong Oppose for a few reasons:
  1. This project will most likely be closed soon, probably within the next few weeks. There is not really much point creating content, in my opinion at least.
  2. We don't need any more sysops. I am sysop here to sort out any immediate issues, but there aren't any because this project is dead.
  3. You haven't mastered wiki markup yet, so you simply won't be able to handle admin tools, and also admin tools give you access to more of the guts of the MediaWiki software. You need to really know far too much about wikis.
  4. Use of sockpuppets in this RfA to attempt to change my vote, and support yourself.
  5. I think that you are too obsessed with adminship. On any Wikimedia project, we only promote those that know what the title means, and I don't think you do. Admins do not police wikis, or punish people, they are simply given the ability to help clean things up a bit quicker. You seem to view this as a stepping stone to adminship on Simple Wikipedia, which just isn't true; we don't care how much adminship experience you've had on other projects. I realise that you're after some way of showing how important you are to a project, but this isn't how it works. I've got about every permission going on Simple Wikipedia, but my opinions aren't respected or trusted any more than anyone else's. Administrator, bureaucrat, steward, they all mean nothing, we'll all fight and argue with each other quite happily regardless of how many flags we have. If you really want to help a project, you mainly do that by writing or improving content, that is what makes a big difference. I'm not comfortable with you being promoted to admin while you still think that it is a position of power. You can make a real difference to the Wikimedia projects not by being an admin on as much as possible, but by being a boring old normal user; they are the ones that build up the content, and that content can go out and do quite amazing things. Archer7 23:29, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
  • I understand that the position of sysop is not a position of power. The reason why I want to be sysop is so I can better do maitenance work here more quickly then as a editor. The quicker I am able to do it the more I will be able to do it. Even if this project closes down I will ask for a deletion review. We do need more sysops because the current sysop's are never here and I am here almost all day every day. I do not want to be a sysop for respect, I want to be one so I can do maitenance work quicker. I do not want to be a sysop for myself, I want to be one for wikiquote.--Sir James Paul 23:56, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
    • I am a quick learner so soon after becoming a sysop I will know a lot more about using the tools than I do now.--Sir James Paul 00:08, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Support--RedSoxMan 02:19, 9 December 2006 (UTC) - Sockpuppet of Sir James Paul - Archer7 10:47, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
    • The reason why I want to become a sysop is because I want to do maitenance work in a quicker way. Unlike what archer thinks I do not want this for power, because I would not be more powerful and better than the other editors. I also do not want it for respect. I want it to help keep vandalism from becoming a problem here.--Sir James Paul 03:05, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Strong oppose - user has much to learn as can be seen from experience on other wiki projects. --ZimZalaBim 19:15, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

I think he will continue to work hard as a administrator.--Don 20:20, 9 December 2006 (UTC) -- Don (talk contribs) has made few contributions outside this RfA. Sir James Paul, I gave you those links as examples of things you must learn before attempting to become an admin. You must exhibit proficiency & knowledge of wiki policy & practices (such as, oh, not using sockpuppets, just as an example) before you one gains sysop status. --ZimZalaBim 14:23, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
  • I do know policies right now, all of them. I understand that using sockpuppets is wrong and I am sorry for using one. It is not true that I have used any other sockpuppets, I only used one. RedSoxMan. --Sir James Paul 14:28, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Strong oppose. There are too many single purpose account votes on this RfA for it to be mere coincidence, and fact that the user has made requests for adminship on other projects recently makes me think he wants to be an administrator because he thinks adminship is a position of power or authority. The candidate could really help the projects, but after what I have seen so far I wouldn't trust him with the administrator tools anywhere unless later edits show me that he has read policies and can act appropriately in situations such as these. [change] User:Coppertwig

I would like to have admin privileges on this project so that I can help more effectively with removing vandalism and copyright violations than I otherwise would be able to.

No one can predict the future: no one knows whether this project will continue into the future or be closed down. Meanwhile, in my opinion, adding worthwhile content and removing vandalism can help increase the chances of the project continuing. Having several administrators in the project would help ensure one is always available if the others are busy when something needs to be done. --Coppertwig 16:45, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Weak Support. I really can't see the need, but you've obvioulsy thought about what I've said to you about it and still think it's worthwhile, so it's not as if you're not listening to me. Although this project is dead, what the hell. It can't do any harm. Archer7 23:12, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Comment: It's not dead yet. "It ain't over 'till the fat lady sings." --Coppertwig 03:51, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Strong support. I have been privately corresponding with Coppertwig, and have found the user to be thoughtful, conscientious and a quick learner--just the sort of characteristics that an administrator should have. Coppertwig also has the best interests of this particular Wikimedia project at heart. I will admit that although I have been registered here for a fairly long time, I am basically a dilettante, both here and at the Simple Wikipedia (although I have some plans to get more involved at the Simple Wikipedia). I am, however, a long-term very active editor at en.wikipedia.org (almost two years and over 13,000 edits). user:BlankVerse 23:57, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Strong Support He would make a great sysop here. --Sir James Paul 19:58, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

[change] User:Z

This can be closed. --Z 22:27, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

I would like to be a sysop here. The project probably isn't going to be deleted and I think I can help it grow. Thanks --Z 19:09, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

[change] Support

Support. Welcome, Z, and thank you for your contributions. I think it's a good idea to make User:Z an administrator. If Z is already an administrator, please put Z in the list of administrators on this page. --Coppertwig 21:32, 30 October 2007 (UTC) Because of what the other people said, let's not decide yet about making Z an administrator. I hope Z will continue to contribute. --Coppertwig 17:10, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

[change] Neutral

I don't know He has proposed meta:Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Simple English Wikipedia closure for the Simple English Wikipedia and has been inactive for a long time now. But after that he didn't want to close it any more: vague. Uswibèta 05:57, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

[change] Oppose

Oppose - This user tried to get its sister project "Simple Wikipedia" here closed on meta...shows poor judgment and will not make a good admin..--Cometstyles 06:35, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Comment I changed my mind about closing the simple wikipedia. I have edited the simple English wikipedia before and am currently a admin on the Tsonga Wikipedia. I was also a temporary admin here were I reverted vandalism, blocked the vandals, and deleted an article. --Z 20:46, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

It still has damaged trust in you. Uswibèta 06:08, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

I proposed a simple wikispecies. Also im not going to delete all the articles if i become an administrator. --Z 19:20, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

You can't propose a Wikispecies. There's only one domain: http://species.wikimedia.org . I have not sayed that you're going to delete all articles and pages here. Uswibèta 07:38, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
  • I know, what i am saying is that there are multiple languages for the front page. I created one in simple english. --Z 13:07, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

See here first version http://species.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Main_Page_%28Simple_English%29&oldid=368679 I also made proposals to have it added in the list of languages.

Message to an administrator: please close the discussion. Maybe in the future Z will become administrator but because his proposal to close our sisterproject and his inactivity it won't happen now. Uswibèta 14:56, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Object I object to the closer of this proposal as you are not an administrator and can not order discussions closed. Also there are users who have not yet commented so please leave it open for 3 more days to allow further discussion. If there is no new activity it can be closed. --Z 15:17, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

That's why I ask for it and not close it myself. And I have no problems with it being open a few days longer. Uswibèta 10:18, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
