Welcome to Simple English Wikiquote! Coppertwig 01:33, 16 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

You asked about popups, and a few hours later American Eagle made a popups page! MediaWiki:Gadget-popups.js But I don't know how to make gadgets show in "my settings". Coppertwig 23:16, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I'm not sure where that is located. I could be wrong, but I think my Popups gadget might be broken. Maybe not. Welcome! — American Eagle (talk) 23:30, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I think someone has to create the MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition page, so that it appears under the settings. Best to look at the page on Simple English Wikipedia to get an idea of how it looks like. Chenzw  Talk  06:00, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Does Popups work on here for you? It was messed up on my computer. — American Eagle (talk) 06:24, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Mine too. I think MediaWiki:Common.css and MediaWiki:Common.js are missing something. Chenzw  Talk  06:27, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I put in HotCat and you can see it in "my settings", but it doesn't work. Coppertwig 12:50, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
There is a small typo; it is supposed to be: "Hotcat.js", not "HotCat.js". Chenzw  Talk  13:28, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Fixed! Now it works! Thank you very much, Chenzw! Coppertwig 15:39, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wikiquote:Administrators

Re Wikiquote:Administrators page: I put a link to the category of quick deletion requests, so that administrators can click on that link and see a list of pages that have the {{QD}} template. When you made it prettier the link went away. Could you put it back, please? Thanks. Coppertwig 15:45, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh, the code will automatically show the pages that are tagged with {{qd}}. Since there are no pages, it is empty. I can re-add the link if you want. Chenzw  Talk  02:27, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
No, thanks. I just figured out that that was what you had done. I didn't know how to do that. It's better the way you have it. Now I know how to use "categorytree" and I can use it at English Wikipedia to look for pages in the category "Wikipedians looking for help". Thanks for making it better than it was. Sorry I said anything about it. Coppertwig 17:57, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Bot flag

If you want to get a bot flag, please put a request on Wikiquote:Simple talk to get community consensus. Sorry if this red tape sounds too "bureaucratic". Coppertwig 18:07, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've given ChenzwBot the bot flag. Thank you for putting in interwikis! Coppertwig 02:07, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

RyanCross' RfA thanks

Chenzw, I would like to thank you for your support in my requests for adminship. It was successful having Coppertwig closing my RfA with 8 Supports, and 0 Opposes as the total outcome, and I am now a Wikiquote administrator. I must say, I am very happy and satisfied to help the Wikiquote community in a brand new way, and that I know the community trusts me with the administrative tools. If there's something I've realized during my RFA process this last week, it's that adminship is primarily about trust. Knowing the the overall community trusts me is very heartfelt, and knowing that the community believes I will do well, is very, very good feeling. When I first arrived at Simple English Wikiquote, I saw that the wiki was still growing, so I decided to start contributing to a nice wiki like Simple English Wikiquote. I worked on a lot of wikifying, copyediting, article creation, simplifying quotes, and much more things that I believe have helped improve the quality of the Simple English Wikiquote for all of the readers who come to learn. Every edit we make makes a difference, and making that difference has improved the knowledge of numerous people in our world, which makes editing all the fun. I did my best to work on articles and some general maintenance around here, and I soon realized that more administrators were needed in the most part, so I decided to try to become an administrator here when American Eagle, kindly offered to nominate me for adminship. I was thoroughly surprised how my RfA went, and I am very thankful that I can partake the duties as an administrator, and I will do my very best to help the Simple English Wikiquote community. Please, if you have any comments or complaints about my actions as an administrator, leave a note on my talk page, and I will respond as swiftly as I possibly can. If you need help from an administrator like me, be my guest! You know where to ask (*wink, wink*). ;) I'm sure I could be of assistance. I would love to help you! :)

Many thanks,
RyanCross (talk) 03:27, 24 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your question

You asked whether I was listening. I think RfA's are usually for 7 days. I close them after the end of the 7 days. I have other things to do too, so people may need to wait. I think I closed this one after 7 days and 5 hours. I don't think I will be that fast every time, because I may be doing other things. Sometimes I may decide to leave it longer than 7 days so that more people have a chance to vote. If someone writes a closing date at the top that's only 6 days after the beginning of the RfA, I don't think I have to follow that. Maybe on a small project RfAs should be even longer than 7 days.

When I was closing RyanCross' RfA, I was going to do it on the exact minute, after exactly 7 days. I had everything all ready: userrights page, talk page comment, post to Wikiquote:Administrators. I was just going to wait one more minute, for the right time. Then I lost my connection to the Internet!!!

It's OK to send me a message, maybe on my English Wikipedia talk page or by email, if you think I might be forgetting to close an RfA. This time I wasn't forgetting. Coppertwig 02:27, 9 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I see. Yeah, you are right. We are a small community, some discussions may not get responses very quickly. Chenzw  Talk  12:18, 9 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
