I want to become a administrator so I can gain respect here.--RedSoxMan 02:51, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- This is an obvious sockpuppet of Sir James Paul, in an attempt to change my vote. NO. If you attempt to use sockpuppets again, you will be blocked from the Simple English Wikiquote. Archer7 10:50, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- COMMENT I am devoted to the project and will continue to be as a sysop. --Sir James Paul 21:42, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Strong Oppose for a few reasons:
- This project will most likely be closed soon, probably within the next few weeks. There is not really much point creating content, in my opinion at least.
- We don't need any more sysops. I am sysop here to sort out any immediate issues, but there aren't any because this project is dead.
- You haven't mastered wiki markup yet, so you simply won't be able to handle admin tools, and also admin tools give you access to more of the guts of the MediaWiki software. You need to really know far too much about wikis.
- Use of sockpuppets in this RfA to attempt to change my vote, and support yourself.
- I think that you are too obsessed with adminship. On any Wikimedia project, we only promote those that know what the title means, and I don't think you do. Admins do not police wikis, or punish people, they are simply given the ability to help clean things up a bit quicker. You seem to view this as a stepping stone to adminship on Simple Wikipedia, which just isn't true; we don't care how much adminship experience you've had on other projects. I realise that you're after some way of showing how important you are to a project, but this isn't how it works. I've got about every permission going on Simple Wikipedia, but my opinions aren't respected or trusted any more than anyone else's. Administrator, bureaucrat, steward, they all mean nothing, we'll all fight and argue with each other quite happily regardless of how many flags we have. If you really want to help a project, you mainly do that by writing or improving content, that is what makes a big difference. I'm not comfortable with you being promoted to admin while you still think that it is a position of power. You can make a real difference to the Wikimedia projects not by being an admin on as much as possible, but by being a boring old normal user; they are the ones that build up the content, and that content can go out and do quite amazing things. Archer7 23:29, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- I understand that the position of sysop is not a position of power. The reason why I want to be sysop is so I can better do maitenance work here more quickly then as a editor. The quicker I am able to do it the more I will be able to do it. Even if this project closes down I will ask for a deletion review. We do need more sysops because the current sysop's are never here and I am here almost all day every day. I do not want to be a sysop for respect, I want to be one so I can do maitenance work quicker. I do not want to be a sysop for myself, I want to be one for wikiquote.--Sir James Paul 23:56, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- I am a quick learner so soon after becoming a sysop I will know a lot more about using the tools than I do now.--Sir James Paul 00:08, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unlike what archer thinks I do not want this for power, because I would not be more powerful and better than the other editors. I also do not want it for respect. I want it to help keep vandalism from becoming a problem here.--Sir James Paul 03:05, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- I have a page that tell how to use the tools sysop's have.--Sir James Paul 12:52, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- I have some links that will help me as a sysop.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_how-to_guide#Deleting_a_page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:What_adminship_is_not http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_reading_list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrator_Code_of_Conduct
- Sir James Paul, I gave you those links as examples of things you must learn before attempting to become an admin. You must exhibit proficiency & knowledge of wiki policy & practices (such as, oh, not using sockpuppets, just as an example) before you one gains sysop status. --ZimZalaBim 14:23, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- I do know policies right now, all of them. I understand that using sockpuppets is wrong and I am sorry for using one. It is not true that I have used any other sockpuppets, I only used one. RedSoxMan. --Sir James Paul 14:28, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Strong oppose. There are too many single purpose account votes on this RfA for it to be mere coincidence, and fact that the user has made requests for adminship on other projects recently makes me think he wants to be an administrator because he thinks adminship is a position of power or authority. The candidate could really help the projects, but after what I have seen so far I wouldn't trust him with the administrator tools anywhere unless later edits show me that he has read policies and can act appropriately in situations such as these. J Di 14:47, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to have admin privileges on this project so that I can help more effectively with removing vandalism and copyright violations than I otherwise would be able to.
No one can predict the future: no one knows whether this project will continue into the future or be closed down. Meanwhile, in my opinion, adding worthwhile content and removing vandalism can help increase the chances of the project continuing. Having several administrators in the project would help ensure one is always available if the others are busy when something needs to be done. --Coppertwig 16:45, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Weak Support. I really can't see the need, but you've obvioulsy thought about what I've said to you about it and still think it's worthwhile, so it's not as if you're not listening to me. Although this project is dead, what the hell. It can't do any harm. Archer7 23:12, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment: It's not dead yet. "It ain't over 'till the fat lady sings." --Coppertwig 03:51, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Strong support. I have been privately corresponding with Coppertwig, and have found the user to be thoughtful, conscientious and a quick learner--just the sort of characteristics that an administrator should have. Coppertwig also has the best interests of this particular Wikimedia project at heart. I will admit that although I have been registered here for a fairly long time, I am basically a dilettante, both here and at the Simple Wikipedia (although I have some plans to get more involved at the Simple Wikipedia). I am, however, a long-term very active editor at en.wikipedia.org (almost two years and over 13,000 edits). user:BlankVerse 23:57, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

American Eagle (talk • changes)
- Hello. I'm American Eagle, an administrator on Simple English Wikipedia. Since I came here (which was only a few weeks ago), there have not been any really active admins (Coppertwig did come on, though). I've tried to be bold here, I redesigned the Main Page and created our Wikiquote:Deletion policy. I've read through our policies (though there are only a few), and I believe I understand everything. Wikiquote needs to have an active admin (4 pages now in CAT:QDR, and if a user/IP needed a quick block, that could take a while), if I was granted adminship, I would not abuse the tools. Thank you very much. --American Eagle (talk) 19:32, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Strong Support: I'm very happy that American Eagle is helping at Simple English Wikiquote and asking to be an administrator. American Eagle makes a very large number of changes, and they're good changes, both here and at Simple English Wikipedia. Again, welcome to Simple English Wikiquote, American Eagle!
On Simple English Wikipedia, American Eagle ...
- ...writes good edit summaries
- ...welcomes users [1]
- ...and gives out barnstars [2]
- ...is gentle about enforcing rules [3]
- ...knows how to say "sorry": [4]
- Giving delete buttons to someone who likes to keep pages does no harm. [5]
- (I'm not sure whether this was vandalism or not, but nobody's perfect: [6])
- There were 25 supports and no opposes when American Eagle asked to be an administrator at Simple English Wikipedia: [7]
American Eagle has made many good changes in a short time here at Simple English Wikiquote, too. ☺ Coppertwig 01:58, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Wow, you really did a background-check on me. The second-to-last one, now that I see it again, it wasn't really vandalism, just a bit out-of-place and poorly inserted (with an Example.jpg image). So it's hard to judge, and I (apparently, I don't remember the time), chose to just keep the old version. It's good to see you on, this is such a small Wikiquote. I thank you for your support and comments, Coppertwig. --American Eagle (talk) 02:51, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SwirlBoy39 (talk • changes)
- Hi! I am SwirlBoy39. I am sort of new to Wikiquote. Well, new to editing at least but have been watching for a few months. I am a very experienced editor. I edit mainly at Simple Wikipedia. I also edit en.wikipedia and other various wikis. I do have experience with admin tools because I am a staff member on here. Staffers have CU, admin, b'crat and of course staff rights. I think it would be very helpful to have one more admin on the team. Currently there is (from what I've seen) only one active admin and American Eagle too soon. So please, consider me for the next admin here. SwirlBoy39 23:47, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Strong oppose. You've been active here for less than a week. Also, having sysop powers on a non-WikiMedia site won't reflect your performance here.--TBC 03:20, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose mainly because of TBC's point. Also, I believe that is a test wiki. Just because you are a staff member there, doesn't mean you'll have experience here, a serious wiki. Wikiquote isn't a test wiki, and saying you have experience as a staff member at a test wiki makes me think a bit you'll make test edits with the tools here. Sorry, but try again next time. -- RyanCross (talk) 03:28, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I, American Eagle, would like to nominate Coppertwig (talk • changes) for Bureaucratship. He is a great user, kind and trusted. And as we grow, we will get more administrators, and a Bureaucrat will be needed to flag them. So instead of him asking on Meta for the grant (as he did for me here), I'd like to nominate him for the task. Thank you. — American Eagle (talk) 00:20, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Candidate's acceptance: I have not decided yet whether to accept. I'm not sure if this project is big enough to need a bureaucrat yet. ☺ Coppertwig 12:25, 13 August 2008 (UTC) I accept the nomination. Thank you. ☺ Coppertwig 02:11, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Candidate's statement: I've been thinking about this. I think this is what I'll do: usually I won't vote in requests for administrator rights. Sometimes I may decide to vote. If I vote or if there is any other reason I think I can't be impartial, then I won't close the request. Then someone else will have to do it. If there's no other bureaucrat I'll probably ask a steward to do it. I may change my mind about these things.
If people want to know more about me, they might want to look at my RfA on English Wikipedia, which was unsuccessful with 68 support, 44 oppose and 18 neutral. Here on Simple English Wikiquote I've kept the fires smouldering for a year and a half waiting for regular users to come, and I'm very happy that now we have a number of active users, and working together we can build this place! ☺ Coppertwig 02:11, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- About your RfA: what's the hurry? There's a date for ending at the top. Not everyone has voted. People might be thinking that they can vote another day because they saw the ending date. About my RfB: I was thinking that maybe bureaucratship should take longer than adminship; that's why I had been thinking of maybe moving the date later. I decided not to suggest that, but am not opposed to moving it up to a week later if someone suggests it. But on the English Wikipedia, I think RfBs are the same length of time as RfAs. ☺ Coppertwig 02:53, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm relatively new here, but on SEWP I have seen administrators at work. SwirlBoy39 (talk • changes) has the edits (200+), he knows the rules and has even tagged pages for deletion, something which is quite hard to do on a Wikipedia with about 165 articles. He's trusted both here and on SEWP. The mop would help reverting vandalism and housecleaning.
Most importantly, he edits here often, and giving him the mop would increase his edits and the quality thereof tenfold. He'll become more active on a project which needs activity. His recent 4 day editing gap was because he was sick, which also shows maturity, since he can prioritize. Basically, he has the qualities and the understanding for adminship. --Gwib -(talk)- 23:49, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He is very good at editing, knows our (and in general) policies, as well as being very good at technical things (for example, MediaWiki: namespace pages). I love to see us growing; hundreds of changes per day, several new gadgets, many new pages and growing attention here. I know what a great user he is, trust-worthy and enjoyable to work with, and I would like to nominate him for the Sysop flag. Thank you. — AE (talk) 02:42, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Candidate's acceptance: I'm very flattered by your nomination, American Eagle. I'm honored and happy to accept, hoping that this may help me serve our community, and the Simple English Wikiquote, in the best way I possibly can. :) -- RyanCross (talk) 03:03, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Candidate's statement: Hi there, I have had my account on Simple English Wikiquote for almost a month now and have amassed over 400 edits on the Simple English Wikiquote, and I've been actively editing for a while now. I'll be sure to do my very best as an administrator on Simple English Wikiquote if the community decides to make me one, and I will be glad to be an administrator and help the community further as one. Our wiki is quickly growing, and I'll be sure to help out in it's growth as an administrator over Wikiquote. One day, this wiki will be as big as you can imagine, and I'll be here doing my best until then, and I promise I will not abuse the tools. Thank you so kindly, RyanCross (talk) 03:03, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like administrative rights for certain maintenance tasks (merging page histories, deleting entries, protecting entries) and to deal with persistent vandals when other admins aren't online. I've been active here for around a month, amassing 200+ edits. I'm also an administrator on Simple English Wikipedia and Wiktionary, so I have a good grasp on administrative tasks and responsibilities. --TBC 18:20, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Support - I know and fully trust you from Simple English Wikipedia, as an administrator. You've been here a while, you know how to do things, and he will do fine as a Sysop. I want to get your opinion on MoS here, so please comment here. But I have no problem supporting you, you'll do fine. Unrelated: we should set up a Wikiquote:Criteria for administratorship, so every user in the future who hangs out for a few weeks doesn't expect to be made Sysop. But, as present, I'll support. -- American Eagle (talk) 22:48, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Oppose very strongly – All the disruptiveness you've caused around the WikiMedia Foundation has showed me that you will not make a good administrator here (or anywhere else). – RyanCross (talk) 00:56, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose, sorry, but you're not ready to become an admin. Sorry -- American Eagle (talk) 01:30, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
