Good to meet you! I wrote Simple explanations for Muhammad. I'll probably be working on the other ones you provided, too. --Coppertwig 04:21, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Original words

When you simplify something, I would like to see the original words too. I think the original words should be on the page. They can be at the top, or they can be in a footnote. A link that goes directly to the original words would be OK too, but not just an interwiki to a similar page where you might or might not be able to figure out which quote goes with which. I'm leaving the original words on pages I simplify, and I'm adding the Simple English too (with Simple: to mark it). I'm really glad to see you contributing to SE Wikiquote, though. --Coppertwig 03:20, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Translating

In the Edward Abbey page, I translated the first paragraph into Simple English and deleted the original words. That's because that part is talking about him but is not quoting his words. In the other part, I left his original words and also gave a simplified/translated version. --Coppertwig 03:54, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

are you just going from wiki project to wiki project trying to become a sysop? you should stop and listen to the advise you've been given abot learning some stuff first

You have a lot of edits

Wow!!! You have a lot of edits for being here for only 3 day's. Wow.--RedSoxMan 02:31, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship

In response to your message on my talk: That is not how things are done. As I've suggested before, I strongly urge you to familiarize yourself with general Wikipedia policy, as well as the administrators' reading list, as well as the guide to requests for adminship. I also fear if you persist with these cross-wiki attempts to become an admin, you might try the patience of the community. --ZimZalaBim 00:22, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Re your comment on my talk page: Why, thank you! You've done a tremendous amuont, too. It's great. By the way: as you create the pages, please give a bibliography for each one. I.e. state where you go t the material from. I'm assuming you're providing the original English words from the sources. If you could put some or all of the pages into categories, that would help, too. You can create categories. See en:wikipedia:Wikipedia:Categorization. Not meaning to discourage you, though. --Coppertwig 03:00, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RfA

I'm afraid I can't give a date for the RfA to end, as I strongly suspect that you are using multiple accounts to support your own nomination. Therefore, I have referred this to the Wikimedia Stewards, who will hopefully check the server logs (m:CheckUser) for me and check whether you are operating multiple accounts. If the check shows that you ran those accounts, all accounts including this one will be blocked. Even if the check doesn't, you most likely won't be promoted due to the several strong oppose votes. I hope that you haven't been operating sockpuppets, but if you are I hope that you'll take it as a mistake and learn from it. Thanks, Archer7 13:30, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You have admitted to using a sockpuppet [1], and admitted that you know it was against policy but did it anyway [2]. This indicates you are far from ready to have admin power, and will likely end up with your accounts blocked. --ZimZalaBim 14:43, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copying content from other websites

Please don't copy content from other websites and paste it here. You've already been warned about this on Simple English Wikipedia so I won't bore you. J Di 15:18, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop creating articles like this. Archer7 (talk changes) has said here that the articles are copyright violations. J Di 17:02, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Recent article creation

Please stop creating articles by copying content from other sites, including other Wikimedia projects, and pasting them into Simple English Wikiquote. These articles haven't been simplified, and from what I can tell no effort has been made to wikify them so that they conform to basic manual of style standards. Unformatted and unsimplified articles do not help this project. J Di 17:11, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sir, why do you persist in this activity [3] even though multiple editors have kindly asked you to stop? Your inability to heed more experienced editors' guidance further reveals that you are far from ready to be an admin in any wiki-related project. Please stop and take a moment to go back and clean up your contributions (simplify, wikify, remove copyvios, etc) to fit with the goals of this project. Thanks. --ZimZalaBim 22:48, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
And please don't just create pages from automated translations of wikipedia pages from other languages, as you apparently did with Roselyne Bachelot, which seemed to come from this translation [4]. The results was nonsensical, and therefore, worthless. --ZimZalaBim 01:13, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Additional sockpuppet concern

Hi. Since you have used sockpuppets before [5], I feel compelled to ask you about other single-purpose accounts that have voted on your RfA. Do you have any connection to NY (talk changes), Don (talk changes), or Superman (talk changes)? Thanks.--ZimZalaBim 20:04, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The CheckUser is targeting these accounts. Unfortunately, it could be a while before I get the results. CheckUsers seem to take anywhere from 3 hours to 2 weeks before a steward gets round to looking at it. Archer7 22:24, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't remove entire sections of names from this page without some kind of explanation or discussion, as you've been doing here [6]. As it stands, I can't see any reason why you should do this. Also, plese don't change the text of the page to suggest people should use it as a request page. Thanks. --ZimZalaBim 21:26, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Where do you get the material?

There are allegations that some material on Simple English Wikiquote is in violation of copyright. We need to make sure that all the material is free of copyright violation. Where have you been getting the material you've been posting? Are you taking short quotes directly from the original sources? That's fine. Are you using a compendium of quotes that someone else has already collected and published? That would be more problematic. Please explain how you've gotten the material.

Also, whenever you create a page or put material on a page, please list on that page the bibliographic information, that is, the title and other information about the book where you got the quote from. It would be more worthwhile to go back and do that for pages you've already created than to create more new pages. Thanks.

I copied some stuff over from English Wikiquote. I assume they had already made sure it wasn't in violation of copyright. --Coppertwig 16:24, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In the past, he appeared to be copying straight from http://www.brainyquote.com, occasionally rearranging or removing some of the quotations when others warned him about copyright violations. --ZimZalaBim 03:45, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright violation

The page Barbara Amiel which you created was a copyright violation. The quotes were apparently copied as a list from www.brainyquote.com. I have deleted almost all the quotes to remove the copyright violation. I've kept a very small number as "fair use/fair dealing". Please do not post copyrighted material on Wikiquote. Lists of quotes are generally copyrighted even if the original quotes are not copyrighted; the work of compiling them as a list can be copyrighted, apparently. Also, when you post material please say where you got it from. Thanks! Hope to continue collaborating with you. --Coppertwig 13:56, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The same goes for a number of other pages. --Coppertwig 13:57, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, please don't post any more material that looks as if it might be from www.brainyquote.com. Even if an individual page isn't a copyright violation, a collection of pages from the same source can be a copyright violation. You can copy lots of material from English Wikiquote or from other sites with the appropriate license (GDFL?). Thanks. And by the way, thanks for supporting my RfA. --Coppertwig 00:55, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of Gandhi

Very nice picture, but: are you sure you're complying with all Wikimedia policies by uploading it to Simple English Wikiquote? Where exactly on Wikipedia did you find it? Is it a "fair use" picture? If it's "fair use" then I think you are not supposed to copy it. Usually, pictures are stored in Wikimedia Commons, and projects such as Wikipedia and Simple English Wikiquote just have links to the pictures. You can search for pictures here. You can put links to pictures in the articles like this: [[Image:NameofImage.jpg|thumb|Here is a nice picture of ...]] with "NameofImage.jpg" replaced by the actual name of the image. The images in Commons are open-license so there's no problem using them via links like that. Images that are on Wikipedia, rather than in Commons, may be "fair use" so it may be a problem to copy them. What license is this picture under? Where precisely on Wikipedia did it come from? Thanks.

At this moment I can't find the appropriate Wikimedia policy page about images and copyright. I encourage you to search for it. You might try starting from wikipedia:en:Policy. --Coppertwig 02:02, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
